Rich L Test, a devoted family man and esteemed professional, passed away on January 4, 2026, just one day shy of his 66th birthday. Rich's life was characterized by his dedication to family, community, and a successful career that left a lasting impact on those who were fortunate enough to know him.
A resident of Batesville, Indiana, Rich enjoyed a substantial career as a marketing manager for XYZ Corporation, where he worked for 15 years. His strategic oversight contributed to numerous successful product launches, garnering him the Marketing Achievement Award in 2015. His commitment to excellence in his field was matched only by his unwavering kindness and welcoming demeanor. Known for making others feel at ease, his great sense of humor left a warm impression on colleagues and friends alike.
Rich was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served for two decades. He achieved the rank of Colonel and was recognized for his bravery in combat during the Gulf War, receiving both the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. His military service was a source of pride, reflecting both his courage and his commitment to his country.
Education was important to Rich, and he earned a Master's degree in Business Administration from XYZ University. His academic journey was marked by distinction, as evidenced by receiving the Outstanding Academic Achievement award in 2010. This commitment to education continued throughout his life, influencing his passion for learning and personal growth.
Rich's hobbies included collecting rare books, an endeavor that provided countless hours of joy as he explored bookstores and auctions in search of new treasures. However, it was his love for family that truly defined him. Every Thanksgiving, he took joy in preparing his famous apple pie, a delicious tradition that brought his loved ones together. He cherished the time spent with family, especially during holidays, creating memories that will be held dear by all who knew him.
In addition to his professional and personal accomplishments, Rich was deeply committed to community service. He volunteered regularly at a local homeless shelter, dedicating his time to help provide meals and support to those in need. This selflessness earned him the Volunteer of the Year award, a testament to his compassion and generosity.
He is survived by his sister, Sarah Johnson, her husband, Tom Johnson, and a close friend, Rachel Lee, who will remember him fondly and honor his legacy.
Rich is preceded in death by his mother, Susan Smith; father, John Smith Sr.; and brother, James Smith. Their memories will forever be intertwined with Rich's story, as he continues to inspire his family and friends with the values he practiced throughout his life.
