It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude that we announce the passing of Margaret Anne “Maggie” Whitlow, who departed this world peacefully on May 13, 2025, at the age of 84. Surrounded by her loving family, Maggie's final moments were filled with the love she had bestowed upon so many throughout her life.
Born on February 2, 1941, in the quaint town of Ashford, Kentucky, Maggie was the beloved second child of Raymond and Lucille Hensley. With an infectious laugh that could light up the gloomiest of days, she was a vivacious spirit whose kindness knew no bounds. Her nurturing nature extended to everyone around her, leaving an indelible mark on the lives she touched, alongside her legendary pie recipe that left countless friends and family craving for more.
In 1963, she found her soulmate in George Whitlow. Together, they crafted a haven of warmth and love, nurturing their three children amid a symphony of books, melodic tunes, and cherished Sunday dinners. Maggie dedicated over three decades of her life to the Willow Creek Public Library, where she became a treasured figure known for her uncanny ability to recall the favorite authors of countless patrons and always had the perfect book recommendation at her fingertips.
Maggie’s passions were as expansive as her heart. She found joy in nurturing her garden, playing enchanting melodies on the piano, and indulging her grandchildren with love and attention. An avid birdwatcher, she delighted in observing the beauty of nature, all while championing literacy and education within her community. For more than fifty years, she devoted herself to the Gracewood Church, embodying faith and fellowship.
Maggie leaves behind her cherished children, Thomas (Leigh) Whitlow, Rachel (David) Greene, and Daniel Whitlow, along with her six beloved grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Judy Parsons, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She rejoins her husband, George, her brother, Samuel, and her beloved parents in eternal rest.
A celebration of Maggie’s remarkable life will be held on Saturday, May 24, at 2:00 p.m. at Gracewood Church, located at 118 Meadow Lane in Willow Creek. Visitation will occur one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Willow Creek Literacy Fund, continuing Maggie’s legacy of love for learning and community.
