Jade’s Story

Jade Armani Harris was born on January 29, 2002, in Galveston, Texas to the union of D. J. Harris and Roselyn Guillory. Jade departed this life on Thursday, October 26, 2023.

Jade accepted Christ at an early age at the Southland Baptist Church under the leadership of her father, Pastor D. J. Harris. She was baptized at their home church, Mt. Paran Missionary Baptist Church, by the late Rev. Dr. W.W. Jackson, Jr.

Jade started singing in the choir at an early age and found joy serving in various other ministries within the church. As a teen, Jade especially enjoyed singing with Joyful Noize. Jade served at The Fountain of Praise Rock Youth Church under the leadership of Dr. Remus E. Wright, Senior Pastor, Co-Pastor Dr. Mia K. Wright, and Rev. William Cumby, Youth Pastor.

Jade attended La Marque ISD throughout elementary school and Houston ISD thereafter. She graduated from James Madison High School, class of 2020. After graduation she attended Prairie View A&M University where she was pursuing a degree in Nursing.

Jade had a passion for fashion and beauty, and from this inspiration, “Braids by Maani Kay” was born. You could always count on her extra long nails and her signature hair styles to get a conversation started.

Jade was a devoted employee of The Mays School, in Bellaire, Texas where she worked as a Teacher’s Assistant for the 3 and 4 year olds.

Jade is preceded in death by her great-grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Deyossie Harris and Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Clouser, Sr.; her grandmothers Hester Lee Guillory and Barbara McCray; grandfather Wilbert Smith, Jr.; her uncle Herman Guillory, Jr., and; her favorite baby brother, Nate the Great!

Jade leaves to cherish her memory, parents Dr. Roselyn Guillory and Pastor D. J. & Lady Jovan Harris. Her siblings Jaselyn Callis, Exavier Simpson-Harris, Jaelyn Harris, Destiny Martin, Galicia Bernard, Jaiden Harris, Jhordyn Harris, and Ja’Vyon Harris. Her grandparents Herman Guillory Sr. (Gertrude), Tom Chaney Jr., Miranda Harris, Hazel Smith, and Lessie Rubin. Her Aunts and Uncles Cedric and Ramona McCray, Natasha Freeman, Jared Harris, Shiranda Harris, Rev. Justin Wafer, Rev. Kenneth Green Sr. (Charli), Jessica Wallace (Brandon), Ricky Clevalle (Dani), Joi Rubin, Brandon Reese, Jarett Rubin, Carlos Rubin Sr., Dorsetta Williams, Dr. Maurice Mickles, and Cecil Jones. Her Godparents Marci Simmons and Carol Jean Johnson. Her nieces Kaisen and Kinsley and countless extended family members and friends.
